The “Off the Leash” blog is where we explore and review various wines and wineries throughout California, Oregon, and Washington—and occasionally across the country and around the globe.

Our reviews are structured for casual wine drinkers and enthusiasts who want to avoid overly complicated and technical tasting notes. Instead, reviews highlight the wine’s “personality,” its price point, its age-ability, and who might enjoy it. And because the setting can affect your experience of wine, our reviews include the conditions in which it was tasted.

For those pursuing wine credentials, technical tasting notes are included in a separate section of the review.

Dee Armstrong is a writer with 20+ years’ professional experience in entertainment, publishing, technology, and education. She graduated from Western Washington University with an M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Multimedia Development and later earned an MFA in Screenwriting at the University of Southern California. She has since earned a Level 3 certification in wine through WSET and lives in Southern California with her husband and an 10-pound werewolf.
